CRONACA DELLA GIORNATA DI MERCOLEDÌ 14 LUGLIO

Siamo così giunti all’ultima giornata dei lavori del capitolo. Ufficialmente l’assise si concluderà domani, ma i lavori veri e propri hanno trovato compimento nella giornata odierna. Domani, invece, tutti i Capitolari saranno impegnati in varie liturgie, che cadenzeranno le ore della giornata. Questa mattina la S. Messa è stata presieduta da p. Seweryn Lubecki neoeletto Discreto di T.S. ed amato professore di filosofia medioevale e francescana dello Studium Teologicum Jerosolimitanus. Commentando l’odierna lettura evangelica, il celebrante ha ricordato quanto sia importante riconoscere, dinanzi a Dio, la propria fragilità e limitatezza. Essere evangelicamente piccoli significa essere umili. L’umiltà, afferma Sant’Antonio di Padova, fa conoscere all’homo se stesso e Dio. Fa conoscere Dio e il suo mistero: quanto più uno si impicciolisce e si umilia nel suo cuore, tanto più Dio cresce in lui. Dopo la Celebrazione Eucaristica, il Presidente del capitolo, fra Francesco Bravi ed il Custode di T.S, fra Pierbattista Pizzaballa, hanno condiviso la gioia di ricevere il Ministro Generale, fra José Rodriguez Carballo giunto appositamente per la conclusione dei lavori. L’intera mattinata è stata, infatti, dedicata all’incontro con Il Ministro Generale, in un clima di fraterna e serena confidenza. Il Ministro Generale, infatti, ha completato qui, in Terra Santa, alcune tappe della sua formazione accademica e, giustamente, considera San Salvatore come la sua seconda Casa. I lavori pomeridiani hanno dato spazio a delle verifiche negli ambiti che maggiormente hanno destato l’interesse dei Capitolari. La giornata, infine, è terminata in un modo tutto speciale, con una visita alle sorelle clarisse di Gerusalemme, con le quali, nella cappella del rinnovato monastero di Santa Chiara, hanno organizzato un’adorazione eucaristica per i Capitolari. Al termine della quale un barbeque tra gli alberi del giardino antistante la chiesa ha segnato gioiosamente la conclusione della giornata.

Report of the tenth day of the Chapter: Wednesday 14^th of July

Today brought the formal Chapter activity to a close. Officially the program will end tomorrow (Thursday), but the central work has been completed. Tomorrow will be a day dedicated to various liturgical celebrations for the Chapter fathers.

This morning's Mass was presided by Fr. Seweryn Lubecki, a newly nominated member of the Discretorium of the Holy Land and a much loved professor of medieval and Franciscan philosophy of the  Studium Theologicum Jerosolymitanum. Commenting on today's Gospel reading, the celebrant spoke about the importance of acknowledging ones own fragility and limits before God. To be small in the Gospel sense, means to be humble.

For St. Anthony of Padua, humility is what allows us to know ourselves and to know God. Humility allows us to know God and His mystery: the more we grow small and humble ourselves in our hearts, the greater God grows within us.

After the Eucharistic celebration, the President of the Chapter, Fr. Francesco Bravi and the Custos of the Holy Land, Fr.  Pierbattista Pizzaballa, shared the joy of welcoming the Minister General, Fr. Jose Rodriguez Carballo, who has arrived especially for the conclusion of the Chapter. The entire morning was dedicated to meeting with the Minister General and the proceedings evolved in an atmosphere of fraternity and familiarity. The Minister General spent some years of his formation in the Holy Land and rightly considers St. Savior's as his second home. The afternoon activity was left open for a time of discussion regarding the central issues dealt with thus far in the Chapter.

In the evening the Chapter Fathers traveled to the newly renovated St. Clare's Monastery where the Poor Clare Sisters of Jerusalem had lovingly organized a time of Eucharistic adoration in the chapel.

The day finished with a joyful time of friendship in the picturesque setting of the garden in front of the church, where a barbeque was prepared among the trees.
