Quest’oggi sono ripresi i lavori del Capitolo, dopo la pausa domenicale. La celebrazione Eucaristica è stata presieduta da fra Nicolás Marquéz, quest’oggi la pagina evangelica (Mt 10,34 – 11,1) ci interroga con particolare forza, presentandoci delle scelte molto nette, anche contro gli stessi sentimenti familiari. La pace di cui siamo chiamati ad essere portatori non si costruisce senza conflitti. La spada che Gesù porta vuole rappresentare l’efficacia della Parola di Dio, che è viva, efficace e più tagliente di ogni spada a doppio taglio. La Buona Novella di Gesù dividerà quanti l’accolgono da quelli che la rifiutano. Quindi, con questi sentimenti nel cuore, i Capitolari hanno inaugurato la sessione mattutina di lavori, pregando con le parole di San Francesco tratte dal Saluto alle virtù. La mattina è stata caratterizzata da un’intensa attività poiché l’Assemblea Capitolare ha approvato gli Statuti della nuova Regione San Paolo, comprendente l’area geografica di Siria, Libano e Giordania, momento questo, importante e delicato nella vita della fraternità di Terra Santa. Nel pomeriggio i lavori si sono incentrati sulla valutazione delle varie proposte scaturenti, sia dai dibattiti in Aula, sia frutto dei gruppi di lavoro, sia da singole iniziative. Al termine della giornata la celebrazione del Vespro è stata presieduta da fra Samir Narouz, il quale, dopo la lectio brevis ha tenuto una toccante meditazione sull’amore fraterno e la carità. Dopo cena ci si è ritrovati tutti nel cortile interno della Curia, per godere un po’ di fresco serale dopo questa intensa giornata di lavori. SG
Report of the eighth day of the Chapter: Monday 12th of July
The activity of the Chapter resumed today after the short Sunday interval. The Eucharistic celebration was presided by Fr. Nicolas Márquez who gave a message from the Gospel reading of Matthew (Mt 10,34 – 11,1), which presented us with the choices we have to make and how sometimes these choices collide even with family bonds. We are called to be bearers of peace and mysteriously this peace cannot be built without conflict. The sword that Jesus brings, represents the effectiveness of the word of God that is “living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword”. The Good News of Jesus divides those who welcome it from those who reject it. With this meditation in their hearts and after having recited the Salutation of the Virtues (a prayer of St. Francis), the Chapter Fathers began the morning session.
The intense morning activity concluded with the approvation of the Statutes of the new Region (given the name of St. Paul), which includes the regions of Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. This decision and implementation marks a delicate and important moment in the life of the Holy Land fraternity. The afternoon work focused on the evaluaton of the proposals put forward by the assembly and group discussions and from some individual suggestions.
The day was drawn to a conclusion with the celebration of Vespers presided by Fr. Samir Narouz, who gave a touching meditation on brotherly love and charity, after the reading of the lectio brevis. After dinner the participants gathered together in the courtyard of the Curia to enjoy the cool evening breeze and to share a moment of relaxation.
